My main chat is my Chief of staff and I have done so much work through him that the Chat is huge. I have split things up so the different app versions speak through different bots. Problem is that the main Chat is still too fat. How do I trim it down to managable size?

thanks

Hey @Aerospace, thanks for the post! there currently isn’t a control to trim or compact an existing Grok Bot chat in place. Long chats are summarized automatically near the context limit, but busy chats can fill up again.

The cleanest workaround is:

1. Ask your Chief of Staff to save a handoff file containing its responsibilities, key decisions, active work, and important references.
2. Open the Bot’s actions and choose **Duplicate**. The copy keeps its profile, settings, skills, routines, and avatar, but starts without the old conversation or learned memory.
3. Ask the copy to read the handoff file, then **Hide** the old Bot so its history remains available.

Since Bots share the same computer, your specialists can also put detailed updates in shared files and send the Chief of Staff only a short pointer. This helps avoid filling its conversation with lengthy handoffs.

The Duplicate behavior is documented here: [Work with Grok Bot | Cursor Docs](https://cursor.com/docs/grok-bot/work)

We’ve also passed along the request for a proper compact or new-session control. You can follow the existing feature discussion here: [Grok Bot: prune/compact an agent’s context without creating a new Bot](https://forum.cursor.com/t/-/168333)
