I recently upgraded from Pro to Ultra expecting a performance boost, but the experience has been a massive downgrade so far.
Ever since the switch, I keep getting hit with the “Taking longer than expected…” message (see attached image). It happens constantly, even for simple prompts. When I was on the Pro plan, the response time was snappy and reliable. Now, it feels like I’m stuck in a slow lane.
Has anyone else noticed a performance hit after moving to Ultra? Is it a server-side issue or is the Ultra model just that much heavier? It’s frustrating to pay more for a slower service.
Hey, I can see the screenshot and the network diagnostics are all green, so basic connectivity looks fine. This is a known issue that several users have been reporting recently.
Try this first: open App Settings via Ctrl+, or Cmd+,, search for HTTP/2, then enable Disable HTTP/2. Restart Cursor after. This has been fixing the Taking longer than expected issue for most users. It looks like a network layer thing that isn’t caught by the built-in diagnostics.
If that doesn’t help, I’ll need a bit more info:
A Request ID from one of the slow requests. Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the chat and select Copy Request ID
