Unable to push changes to github

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Cursor is not showing file changes or approval steps to push to github. Unclear if the tool is making changes to code or if it is just a UI issue.

Steps to Reproduce

Type anything in the agent box, nothing seems to be happening. Getting stuck in thought and then an action, but no additional steps are coming up.

Hey there,

Thanks for reporting!

Can you share an affected Request ID, ideally with privacy mode disabled before you start the chat (Cursor Settings > General > Privacy)?

I am getting the following error on the powershell:

Process ID (PID): 30460

Command line: …\powershell.exe -noexit -command ‘try { . “c:\Users\thoma\AppData\Local\Programs\cursor\resources\app\out\vs\workbench\contrib\terminal\common\scripts\shellIntegration.ps1” } catch {}’

Shell integration: Rich

The following extensions want to relaunch the terminal to contribute to its environment:

  • Git: Enables the following features: git auth provider

That doesn’t look like an error so much as information. What happens if you relaunch the terminal?

This information would still be useful.

I ended up just starting a new agent and it seemed to have resolved itself.

It is messing up again… it looks like the actions are not displaying as expected. Pushes to github are not happening because I cannot approve the github requests.

@Colin any updates here? Cursor is behaving very strangely on my end. It keeps unexpectedly closing and then I am having to press a ~“Restart” pop up window to get it working again. I uninstalled and re-installed and still is performing poorly. The only way that I was able to get it relatively functional was to allow it to run all commands without approving, which I do not necessarily love.

@thomas-ryan-crosby I’d really like to help, but without privacy mode disabled there isn’t much I can see on our end!

If you can reproduce this in a chat with privacy mode disabled, even if it’s not your regular project, happy to look into it more.
