I just started my 14-day trial for an eventual pro+ account for a serious stack. In ask mode I asked a simple question about a tiny md file, but it keeps refusing due to high load. I never had this with any free provider. After a few retries my usage is already at 6% and nothing has been answered yet… It’s unusable! Grok is not even mentioned on the status page… So I would just have to burn through all my tokens to find out that it will never work??
Steps to Reproduce
Sign up for 14 day trial. Ask a question → refused to answer due to high load.
Expected Behavior
It’s supposed to answer the simple question just like any other provider.
Hey, thanks for the report and for the Request ID. That made it quick to track down.
We did receive your request, but it was rejected by a temporary upload rate limit on Cursor Grok 4.6. When demand for the model is higher than available capacity, some requests get rejected with a High Load message instead of putting everyone into an endless queue, and Free plan traffic is rate-limited first. This isn’t related to your account or any settings.
What you can do right now:
Start a new chat (+ button / New Chat) and ask your question there. Once a chat hits this limit, it tends to stick to that chat, so Try again in the same chat often keeps failing. A fresh chat has a good chance of going through.
If the new chat also gets rejected, wait a bit and try again. Limits clear as capacity frees up, and early morning UTC and early daytime are usually the busiest.
About usage: rejected requests aren’t billed. The charge came from the one request that actually went through and managed to read the project context and partially respond. Retries didn’t use anything.
One more thing about the trial: your account currently shows as Free, and I don’t see an active trial attached. If you meant to start a Pro+ trial, check cursor.com/dashboard, Billing tab. If it’s not there, this is one for the accounts team. Email [email protected] and they can look into your specific case.
Sorry for the rough first impression. Let me know how it goes with a new chat.
