I regret pressing that blasted update button last night; I believe it was the darkest day of my life.
Now I can only wait for the update; there’s nothing I can do.
Hey! What issues are you running into? Certainly want to fix.
I had been developing smoothly for many tasks, but after the update, the experience has become less seamless. I was disappointed to find that the previous Ctrl + I interface is no longer available. Additionally, I preferred the earlier coding method. Previously, tasks could be resolved automatically without needing to drag the script, but now it requires manual intervention to hand it over to the AI and make modifications. This doesn’t feel like AI coding anymore; it’s more akin to answering questions. now i need to I to redo the project, and all the time I spent has been wasted.
Furthermore, every time I click on chat, the compose function automatically disappears, and the AI’s output changes, often including several “???”. Another issue I find most disappointing is that it cannot check if I have a subdirectory—it simply changes or adds a new location instead of saving it within my subdirectory. As a result, I have to manually delete it each time.
Also, links to downgrade here if helpful
Thank you! This is helpful!
Could you be more specific here? What do you mean by “the earlier coding method”? Perhaps a screenshot or video would help?
I want to use cursor “agent”, so I don’t want to downgrade. Hope to fix it.
The main reason I preferred the previous version is that it no longer required me to manually add files each time—it automatically understood and modified them. I also really liked the old Markdown format, as it allowed me to clearly see the topic sections, which sped up my development and provided highly useful points and information.
However, since updating to the latest version, the AI has started behaving strangely. For example, when I asked it to add new code to my document, it did include the new section (in green), but it deleted all of my existing code, leaving only the small portion it added. It feels as though it’s acting on its own without waiting for my instructions.
Another significant issue is that, when I ask it to fix something, it often keeps repeating the same errors without trying new approaches to solve the problem. It gets stuck in a loop, reusing methods that have already failed.
Finally, I hope the issue with large files can be resolved. When a file is too lengthy, I would like it to focus on modifying the specific part or keyword I’ve mentioned, rather than attempting to handle the entire file at once.
The previous version was far more intelligent—it understood what I meant without requiring lengthy explanations.
Is this in chat or composer? Is this using the agent or just normal composer?
The Composer and Ctrl + K features are very different. Ctrl + K is particularly well-suited for fixing small errors, whereas using Composer can sometimes introduce additional errors.
same here
updating .md and .txt files with the current status of the project was my major usecase for composer and is a pain right now
IT refuses!
when ti doesnt it just says it didnt but nope
rarely it shows the update but only in the chat window, doesnt update the file
and when you managed through begging and threats then it just overrides the file ^^
@truell20 Composer Agentic framework and without
another problem is that sometimes he can only answer questions and explain the code, but there is no real IDE modification. I need to restart a new chat or talk to him again before he can respond.
And is this for the agent or nromal composer?
I believe now the cursor team has allowed to rollback to 0.42.
