### Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

### Describe the Bug

Next to the context usage indicator under the prompt entry text field, I used to have a display for how much of my monthly limits I have used.

It’s gone as of Version: 3.3.30 (Universal)
VSCode Version: 1.105.1

This isn’t something that’s nice for me to have or something that can maybe be hidden to up my usage; it’s an absolute must have. I’m very much hoping this wasn’t a deliberate decision to hide from people how much they are paying, and that this is a bug and that someone will help me restore it!

It’s absolutely critical for devs that we know how much we are spending without having to go multiple clicks.

TBH I’d have preferred much more info on this than less; having alerts after each prompt to let me know the usage in tokens and dollars from that prompt would be an option I’d love to have so I can tailor prompts to optimize spend.

### Steps to Reproduce

In cursor, make a prompt. then look under the prompt text field. This is every prompt, every conversation, regardless. The screenshot is just one example but this always happens.

### Expected Behavior

Next to the context usage report, a report on how much of my auto/api spend I have left for the month

### Screenshots / Screen Recordings

 ![Screenshot 2026-05-13 at 06.28.32.png](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/cursor1/original/3X/0/6/06f1e639bb7aa62fd4c19c22b32e05033d7d9ed4.png)

### Operating System

MacOS

### Version Information

Version: 3.3.30 (Universal)
VSCode Version: 1.105.1

### Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

I have this as well, on Windows 11. It’s present in the editor window but not in the agent window.

The usage bar is controlled by a setting called `cursor.composer.usageSummaryDisplay`, which defaults to auto. In auto mode, the bar only appears when your spend approaches your plan limit, so it stays hidden during normal usage. You can set it to Always in Settings (search for “usage summary display”) to make it permanently visible.

One thing to note: this currently works in the Editor chat panel. In the Agents window, the usage bar isn’t shown yet regardless of the setting. Our team is working on better usage visibility there. A related thread with the same report: [(Agents Window) Where did the total usage indicator go?](https://forum.cursor.com/t/agents-window-where-did-the-total-usage-indicator-go/160320)

You can also check your usage anytime at [cursor.com/settings](https://cursor.com/settings) under Plan & Usage.

Hey all,

This should be available in the Agent Window again! Search for “Usage Summary” in your settings and select “Always”

I’m still not seeing this in the agents window, only in the editor one (I have the setting enabled).

Hi @norseboar Try going to View → Status Bar on the Agents Window and toggling it. That usually does it!
If you don’t see it, make sure you have the setting set in the IDE view to be “Always” for Usage Summary instead of “Auto” and let us know if you don’t see it after these steps.

well, I have to report that even if changing the settings, I think I never had or saw the usage % in the agent window, settings are all verified and on Always (ide and agent window)

This is what I see, I’ve restarted, updated, refreshed the status bar like you suggested. Usage summary is Always.

I’m in the same spot Tom is, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this for the Agents window, it’s a big reason I don’t use it more.

I’m on Windows 11, not sure how to print all the other diagnostic info but let me know if that would be helpful and I’ll figure it out.

Hi all @norseboar It says “Local” in your Agents Window which means you need to uncheck the Status Bar here

 ![SCR-20260624-jigh](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/cursor1/original/3X/9/b/9b6c73c8553c43f051bbed923ace54e9e4b4d286.jpeg)

Yours says Local which means that the status bar is checked and will be blocking the Included API usage.

 ![SCR-20260624-jhxe](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/cursor1/original/3X/0/3/0357bedeb877a7a31d3e4a2f205dff4ab3239992.png)

Also one more thing @norseboar I replicated the issue and I couldn’t see the API usage remaining on Windows however once I updated that fixed it. So I recommend first please update Cursor to this version and then try the steps listed here.

Version: 3.9.3 (user setup)
VS Code Extension API: 1.105.1
Commit: fac618c95cd031a14de4bc352e3aa42a80359540
Date: 2026-06-23T21:38:59.749Z
Layout: editor
Build Type: Stable
**Release Track: Nightly**

If you don’t see this update available, you can go to Cursor Settings → Beta and switch from Default Settings to Nightly release track.

Oh I see, thank you! I see it now.

When you said toggle it, I thought you meant turn it off and on again to reset it. I didn’t realize that bar replaced the other information.
