Use Cursor with Open-source LLMs

Thanks for the info, we’ll look into it.

Bumping this, I also had the same issue trying to use Qwen 3 and K2

Hello good evening I use my API key in roo open router but within the course it does not work, in fact no model works there since version 1.3.0 this broke and has not been resolved until now

CURSOR requires pro plan to use agent mode for any other open source models, RIGHT?

Correct. Cursor requires Pro plan to use 3rd party APIs.

Yearly Pro plan here. No API is working anymore - see the errors above @condor @deanrie

Unfortunately, the developers do not provide open source models, and the API models do not work. It seems that they are purposefully forcing users to use Claude.
Although I like Cursor, their pricing policy makes me look for alternatives.

@LARAMediaGroup which error do you see?

See the pics attached to the convo above, please.

@LARAMediaGroup we report most errors as received from AI provider or when we have issues connecting to it. The screenshots are showing those cases.

Note that models that were not tested by Cursor team may not have a good support in Chat/Agent.

Have you seen this?

Unfortunately as long as we did not test and tweak things for a model there is not much we can currently do about untested models. Also errors will always be shown as received.

It is super easy to use open source models in vscode with copilot. I am falling back to vscode given the current limits of cursor in pro plan is very less.

we r the same

is there a way to use Ollama-hosted LLMs with cursor?

Hey, Cursor doesn’t support local models because the API needs to be public.

Hi, this can be done by Dockerizing LiteLLM gateway and Cloudflare tunnel ingress. This worked for my here is my repo on it :
