### Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

### Describe the Bug

After updating Cursor this morning to 3.19.7, the microphone button in the Agent/chat composer no longer works.

Clicking the mic shows the listening/recording UI for a split second, then it immediately closes. No transcription happens. This worked on the previous build the same day, on the same machine.

Windows already has Microphone access ON, including “Let desktop apps access your microphone.” Other apps can use the mic. This is not a Windows permission change.

Tried:

- Fully restarting Cursor
- Setting “window.dialogStyle”: “custom” in user settings.json, then restarting
Still the same: listening UI flashes and closes.

Actual: Listening UI appears, then closes immediately. Cannot dictate.

### Steps to Reproduce

Steps:

1. Open Agent chat in the IDE
2. Click the microphone button in the composer
3. Recording/listening UI appears briefly
4. UI closes immediately with no transcript

### Expected Behavior

Clicking the mic starts recording and stays in listening mode until I stop, then transcribes into the chat input.

### Operating System

Windows 10/11

### Version Information

Version: 3.19.7 (stable)
VSCode Version: 1.128.0
Commit: 90de2327392570a5f5f625c656c6749d228e6430
Date: 2026-09-02T23:03:07.739Z
OS: Windows 11 (10.0.26200)
Layout: editor (IDE chat composer, not Agents Window)

### Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey Adam, thanks for the detailed report.

In 3.19.7, dictation moved to live streaming transcription, and it needs an HTTP/2 connection to our API. From what we can see on our side, your dictation attempts are not reaching us at all. This usually means something on the network path (common case is a corporate proxy or a security tool) only allows HTTP/1.1 to this host. The older version uploaded the recording in a single request, so it did not hit this issue.

Can you try this and let me know what happens:

1. Open Cursor Settings (gear icon in the top-right, or `Ctrl+Shift+J`)
2. Go to Network
3. Change HTTP Compatibility Mode to HTTP/1.1
4. Fully quit Cursor and reopen it
5. Open chat and press the microphone again

If that fixes it, you can keep HTTP/1.1. If it does not, please also do this so I can see what is failing:

1. Help \> Toggle Developer Tools
2. Console tab
3. Press the microphone once
4. Copy any red error lines here, especially if they mention `StreamStt`, `ERR_H2`, `getUserMedia`, or `AudioContext`

Tell me what you see and we will dig in from there.
