It seems like the feature to manually edit code inside a background agent VM has been removed in Cursor 2.0 (previously the little computer icon next to the agent name). This was a useful feature since if the AI just wasn’t getting something I could make a quick manual update before having it proceed.
I’ll likely be looking to downgrade Cursor or switch to another IDE if this is gone for good.

I will never use the background agents until they re-add this feature, it’s like the whole appeal for me
It looks like they did keep the ability to open the Virtual Machine, they just moved it. I’m guessing it’s because they now have the feature to run a single background agent multiple times. To open it you now have to click the 3 dots next to the pop-up open in this screenshot.
