When should I switch from Auto to a specific model in Cursor?

Hey everyone :waving_hand:
Kinda new to Cursor and on the $20 plan. I’m building a portfolio website and trying to understand when I should stick with Auto or switch to a specific model like Claude 4.5 Sonnet.

For example, if I prompt:

“Build the base structure of my portfolio website using DaisyUI — add a responsive navigation bar, hero section, and main content area.”

Should I keep it on Auto, or is it better to switch to Sonnet for a more structured, higher-quality result?

Basically — how do you decide which model fits best for different tasks like scaffolding UI, writing backend logic, or debugging?

With the new changes to the pricing now I really want to be more efficient and use less “useless” requests.
