I am feeling so the same. working for few hours and bammmm 89% and I was causes
Agree, this is a pain point, users have to log in daily to the cursor dashboard to check their usage. I’ve now pinned it as a tab in my browser to check how many requests I have left.
This post that I am commenting on is not the solution. Not sure why a/the “Community Developer” does not mention this.
The actual solution can be found further down:
I’ve come back here to find my previous solution, because with v2 the setting moved under a different sub-menu. The new spot is Settings > Agent > Usage Summary
Fortunately, there’s another way to get there — using Ctrl+F in the Cursor settings to search always works.
For heavens sake, where is the consumption percentage meter?
Bottom line - it’s a metered service, correct? You pay $X and you get Y consumption – per month.
But, there’s no way to monitor your usage? (Except, go to a detailed list of every request and add them up?)
Please validate this question and help me understand why the simplest thing in the world is missing.
Btw, why hasn’t an employee from Cursor responded to this long-running thread? I
You see what’s not there and even though the option exists, it is somewhat hidden. I saw a little project ![]()
I built a small site in about 2 hours with AI. Cursor Cost Visualizer
You can import your CSVs from Cursor and get a clean, nicely formatted overview of your usage and costs. You can load your csv files from cursor right into it, everything is processed locally, and if you want, you can even grab the site to use it complete locally. Only works as long as the current .csv structure is kept, otherwise you would have to adjust it a little.
12/8/2025 - How to enable real-time usage in Cursor.
In the chat window, you’ll see the “…” menu. Click it to open the menu.
Click “Agent Settings” in the menu.
In the settings window that opens, find “Agents” in the left hand side and select it.
You’ll see an option “Usage Summary”. Set it to “Always” (mine was defaulted to Auto).
When you do this, you’ll see
”You’ve used X% of your usage limit” in the bottom of the chat window.
Cursor is amazing. Most developers want total amount of real-estate. Perhaps this is turned off to give real estate and the not the negative things that were said.
You’re welcome. (I’m at 2% right now . . . so . . . back to coding and using them tokens up!
)
The funny thing, back in the beginning they used to have a clear interface where you can see your usage. They downgraded to this ■■■■■■ up interface where I can’t see what i am doing, i emailed them about it, but it seems they just dont care, this is what they want they dont want you to know how much you have so you wont be planning properly, with the previous interface i used to be able to plan to never go over it. this is just bs business practice, once the company has enough users they do this kind of ■■■■
I set it up this way, but it still doesn’t show up ![]()
It seems that it only shows up when the dosage exceeds 50%.
I just turn it on all the time. So, set to ‘Always’
When I set Usage Summary to “Always” below my chat it says “ you hit your usage limit “ while its not true and when i got to website dashboard i see its still being included , so this is not accurate !
