Where did context-window fill indicator go?

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

In the old (Cursor 2) layout the chat sidebar would have a progress/wheel indicator showing how much of the current context window was used up. This was handy to keep the agent outside the “dumb” zone.

In Cursor 3 this indicator seems to have disappeared and I can’t seem to find any setting to bring it back. Was this intentional? If not, this is a bug that should be fixed.

Steps to Reproduce

Open Cursor 3.
Click on any active agent conversation.
Observe the absence of the indicator showing the context window fill.

Operating System

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, the context window indicator is still there in the Glass layout, it just moved. Hover your mouse over the chat window title, and you’ll see a tooltip showing the model, folder path, and context usage percentage.

Let me know if that helps!

Ah there it is. That’s perfect  Thank you.

Wow. I couldn’t find that too. I think this what a stupid UI design is.

I would love for it to be visible somewhere without mouse movements. I always keep an eye on the context window, and now it requires extra actions.

…. and its gone. Where did they move it in the last update?

@cvzakharchenko Clear request, the team knows users want a context indicator without extra steps. For now it’s only available via hover or click on the chat title.

@mwolfeio Can you confirm which Cursor version you’re on? Help > About. The tooltip on hover over the chat title should still work, or did it disappear completely? If it did, please share a screenshot.
