I’m looking back at past chats wondering which model I was talking with? There’s no way to know… Especially if I switch models mid conversation - it changes the model in the dropdown for all the chats before it.
Two places I’d like to see a model name:
At the end of each message (Eg. 2h ago by Cursor Grok 4.5 High Fast)
In Plans, version history might be out of scope, but at least a timeline of which model made what changes
Hi @gerbz Thanks for the request. You’re reading it correctly. The model picker shows whatever is selected for that chat at the moment. If you switch mid-conversation, that current choice is what you see when you scroll back. There isn’t a per-message record of which model wrote each turn, and Plan version history doesn’t keep a model timeline either.
If you need a rough look-back, your usage dashboard lists the models that were billed around that time. It isn’t tied to a specific chat, so it won’t replace a label on the message itself.
