I honestly don’t get this decision.
Auto model was the main reason I was using Cursor. After making it paid-only, the free version pretty much lost all its value for me. Without Auto mode, Cursor doesn’t really stand out anymore.
Because of this change, I’ve already switched to Claude Code, and to be honest it’s been a much better experience so far. At this point, using Cursor without Auto model just doesn’t make sense for my workflow.
So:
• Why was Auto model moved behind a paywall?
• Is there any plan or timeline to make it free again (even with limits)?
If not, I don’t really see a reason to come back. Curious if others feel the same.
