Why is “max mode” the default after the update? Can it be turned off globally?

Body:

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed a couple of issues after the latest update:

  1. Default “max mode”: After updating, the software defaults to “max mode”. This doesn’t seem very reasonable to me. Can anyone explain why this change was made?
  2. MCP updates: After updating the MCP (module/control/plugin), I have to restart the cursor for the changes to take effect. This isn’t very user-friendly. Is there a way to avoid having to restart the cursor every time?
  3. Global setting for “max mode”: Is there a way to globally disable “max mode”? I’m not a fan of this default setting and would prefer it to be turned off.

Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We have the same question. We have a large team using Cursor and we weren’t aware MAX was turned on by default which caused us to eat through our quota much quicker than expected. The ability to turn this off globally would be much appreciated.

It would be useful to have a visual indicator that MAX mode is currently on, in addition to the request above “turn off globally”.
