Why Is Plan & Usage Visibility Different Between Users?

Why does Cursor show detailed Plan & Usage information for one user but not another?

We tested this on the same computer, same Cursor installation, same version, and same environment. The only difference was switching users.

One login shows detailed usage in both Cursor and the web dashboard. The other does not.

So this does not appear to be a device, installation, browser, or version issue.

Is the Plan & Usage UI currently behind a staged rollout, feature flag, or A/B test?

If Cursor intentionally shows different usage visibility to different users, there should be a clear explanation of how this feature is being rolled out.

I’m asking about the product behavior of the Plan & Usage interface, not billing or subscription management.

I’ve already contacted support by email, but the responses so far have been dismissive and haven’t addressed the actual issue.

I also posted about this before and never received a real answer.

I’m not looking for another generic response or to be redirected somewhere else. I simply want a solution that lets me see my detailed usage in Plan & Usage, just like other users can.

Please tell me how to enable it or fix whatever is preventing it from showing.

I just want access to my own usage data — not another runaround.

@Dean Rie

Hey, thanks for the detailed report and for ruling out device, version, and install up front. That’s the right direction.

Short answer: the detailed Plan & Usage view isn’t tied to your machine, install, or app version. It’s tied to the account’s billing state. The detailed Plan & Usage tab in the IDE and on the dashboard shows up for accounts that are on the new usage-based pricing model (on-demand or auto-spillover). Accounts that aren’t on that model yet will have the tab hidden. That’s why two logins on the same machine can look different. It’s an account state difference, not an environment issue. It’s not a client-side A/B test.

One nuance that matches your case: for existing subscriptions, enrollment into the new model happens on a billing cycle event, meaning renewal. If an account was moved to the new model mid-cycle, the tab might not show up until the next renewal. For annual plans, that can be much later. So on your side everything is set up correctly, the enrollment just hasn’t kicked in yet. This isn’t something you can fix on the client. Reinstalling, clearing cache, or relogging won’t help. I shared this case with the team as an example where annual subscribers wait too long. I’ll reply here if there’s an update.

Until the tab shows up, all usage data is available in the web dashboard and nothing is hidden there: https://cursor.com/dashboard → Usage / Manage Subscription. This works regardless of enrollment status.

If any numbers don’t match, send a screenshot from the dashboard Usage page and we can look at it.

@deanrie

@deanrie I can only see how many tokens I’ve used, but there’s no percentage shown at all, so I have no idea how much usage I have left. You can’t seriously expect me to calculate the cost myself, right? This experience is extremely poor and makes it impossible for me to plan ahead.

Hey, good news. Based on your screenshots, the detailed Plan and Usage is showing now. Enrollment into the new pricing model worked, like I mentioned above. Thanks for sharing the usage history and dashboard screenshots.

On your question about the percentage. On the new model, the included limit is not a fixed number of tokens. It is a dollar value of model usage. In the list, that is the Cost column with notes like Included and 50% off. That is why you see tokens plus the cost for each request instead of a single percent. Simple rule of thumb: on Pro, the included amount is roughly equal to the plan price per month. When On-Demand Usage is turned off, yours is Off, once you hit the included limit, requests will be blocked and you will not get any extra charges.

If you want to see a usage percent while you work, turn this on: Cursor Settings > search usage > Agents section > Usage Summary = Always. Then you will see a usage percent line at the bottom of the agent window, so you do not need to calculate it manually.

That said, I agree there should be a clear indicator on the dashboard for how much included usage is left. It makes planning harder without it. I passed this feedback to the team, but I cannot promise an ETA. If I get an update, I will reply here.

I already know about that setting, but there’s still no percentage shown. Why can’t it display usage the same way as other plans? They’re all Pro plans after all. I completely can’t see the usage of my first-party models. The second screenshot is from my friend — his is clear at a glance. @deanrie

Hey, thanks for sending both screenshots. I can see your friend’s clean Plan & Usage view with a per-model breakdown (Cursor Models 16% used, Other Models 2% used) and your agent popup showing $20/$20 included usage.

Main point: just because both accounts are Pro doesn’t mean the layout will look the same. The per-model percentage breakdown (Included in Pro) depends on which billing model the account is currently on. It’s not based on the plan name or the device. So two Pro logins can look different, and it’s not something you can fix on the client.

One important UI note: the per-model percentages don’t show in the agent popup. They show here:

  • cursor.com/dashboard → Spending (this is where Included in Pro shows Cursor Models / Other Models as %)
  • Settings > Plan & Usage

In the agent popup there’s no per-model breakdown, only the overall included bar ($20/$20).

Can you open cursor.com/dashboard → Spending and send a screenshot of that page? If the per-model percentage breakdown still doesn’t render there like it does for your friend, then it’s a layout tied to the account’s pricing model, and I’ve already flagged it to the team. I can’t share an exact ETA yet.

For the numbers so you have a quick reference: on Pro, included usage is roughly the plan price, around $20/month. $20/$20 means you’ve hit the included limit. On-Demand is Off on your account, so further requests are blocked and you won’t be charged anything extra.

Send the Spending page screenshot and we’ll dig in from there.

My Spending page only has the On-Demand toggle. There’s no usage display or any breakdown at all.

I’d like to see the usage details for the first-party models @deanrie

Thanks for the screenshot. I see that on your Spending page you only have the On-Demand Usage toggle, and the included bars plus the per-model breakdown like your friend has Cursor Models / Other Models % are not showing.

This is exactly the case I mentioned above. The per-model breakdown and included percentages on Spending are tied to which pricing model your account is currently on, not your plan Pro or your device. That’s why two Pro logins can look different, and there’s nothing you can fix on your side. Re-logging or clearing cache won’t help. This shouldn’t happen, and it’s not caused by your settings. I’ve shared this with the team and we’re tracking it, but I can’t give an exact ETA yet. I’ll post here when there’s an update.

Until the breakdown shows up, you can still see all usage data here:

  • cursor.com/dashboard → Usage: full request log with tokens and cost for each one, including first-party models.
  • The total included limit is visible in the agent popup. $20/$20 for you means the included is used up. On-Demand is Off, so any further requests will be blocked and you won’t get extra charges.

So the total included is visible, it’s only the per-model percentage breakdown that isn’t rendering. I’ll update you here as soon as I have news.
