Windows 11 Smart App Control blocks Cursor

(Obviously without this being resolved, cursor will become useless)

I found the records in the System Event Log. It appears that Smart App Control’s Code Integrity feature blocked several components of Cursor because they didn’t meet the required signing level.

Here are the key details from the logs:

  • Blocked Process: \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Users\izzyw\AppData\Local\Programs\cursor\Cursor.exe

  • Reason: The application attempted to load modules that “did not meet the Enterprise signing level requirements or violated code integrity policy.”

  • Event IDs: 3077 (Blocked due to policy) and 3033 (Failed signing level check).

The specific modules that were blocked are:

  • file_service.win32-x64-msvc.node

  • watcher.node

  • CreateMutex.node

  • spdlog.node

These events confirm that Smart App Control was indeed blocking parts of the Cursor application from running correctly.
