Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug
On Windows, the Cursor taskbar icon keeps showing an unread notification badge (number). The badge does not clear reliably after I review agent conversations.
This makes the badge useless as a signal — I can no longer tell whether there is a real unread Agent that needs attention.
I am aware this was previously reported as a desync between the tray/taskbar badge and the actual agent read state, and a fix was said to land in Cursor 3.8. I am currently on 3.12.17 and the issue still happens.
Steps to Reproduce
- Use Agents / Composer until Cursor shows an unread count badge on the Windows taskbar icon.
- Open Recent Agents and review conversations that appear unread (including archived ones when necessary).
- Click Clear All Notifications from the tray/notification UI.
- Fully quit Cursor and relaunch.
Expected Behavior
After opening the relevant unread agent chat(s), or after clicking Clear All Notifications, the Windows taskbar badge should reset to zero immediately and stay cleared.
Operating System
Windows 10/11
