I am a large critic of Cursor, so I just wanted to take a minute and give props, even if it is premature in nature (I’m suspicious of rate limits lol).
You guys are taking the cake right now for AI assisted IDEs! I was bouncing from Windsurf to Cursor, back and forth, but I think I’ve found a home here (especially since Windsurf STILL doesn’t have built in Claude 4…)
I really like the pricing update. I am a student, so I won’t be upgrading, but after this year is up the $200 deal is looking pretty good in terms of usage. I am a pretty heavy user, but that’s neither here nor there – thanks for keeping it fair so far, if not improved upon. I am PRAYING this rate limit situation doesn’t bite me in the ■■■.
FINALLY, you guys implemented memory! I say “finally”, but really it only took a little over a month since I had requested it!
I’m looking forward to that being updated and expanded upon.
Windsurf has two things that are not imperative but that I find useful; plan mode (kindof like Claude Task Master MCP but built in – would love to see that added to Cursor) and the Windsurf Browser which is just nice as I believe it automatically has Playright, console log monitoring, network, etc. Windsurf also has killer promotional prices for certain models (GPT4.1 is like .25 tokens I think), but I guess that doesn’t matter much anymore in our use case.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that Windsurf has slightly more intelligent contextual awareness and context storage as I seem to get more linear results when even in a new chat, but I digress.
As those things maybe get added, and Cursor continues to offer what the competitors have and more, it’ll be my one and only IDE for web development and scripting. I think I might stop using Windsurf for now and just run with you guys – to be clear, I thought the OPPOSITE would happen.
Again, good job guys. Sending love. <3
