2.0.4: Rules not applying for all subdirectories

I have a global.mdc with a * as a rule. But when I open a new window (+ in the corner) it never applies it. So I’m all the time satying read this file or @ mentioning it. Which is a bit annoying, especially when I forget to do it.

Is there anyway to have a rule file Always apply regardless of anything else?

My cursor project rules file has this always apply option. Is this enabled for you?

Yes, but it doesnt appear to run for new tabs sadly.

With 2.0.4 there is a hint. I have a global rule in a subdirectory

project/.cursor/rules/global.mdc

it has alwaysApply: true

However on the settings panel it says “Apply to subdiretory: project”

Why, and how do I change this to Apply to all directories?

hi @charles apologies for my late reply. Could you please update to latest 2.0.x version and add full bug report as we use that structure internally and need a bit more details to reproduce it.

Created a new report: 2.0.63: Rules not applying for all subdirectories
