A New Reading Feature, Even better than CodeBase

Make button like Code base but that makes it read ALL the files/folders/CODES and remembering it, its ok if its gonna use more RAM of my PC, because that’s what I need, if it doesn’t remember all codes and what I exactly gave him of list, he will ruin the codes. Thank you for reading. Hope you vote and let the owner see (this is my first month using Cursor.ai)

Hi, im going to chime in with a bit tech clarification, while in specific case your idea might be possible.

This does not depend on users RAM or users computer but on the models context limit and must allow following and work for all users with different requirements, specifically anything added to context:

  • .cursorrules file
  • project rules
  • relevant files for the task
  • user prompt (the chat field)
  • MCP tools installed and their all tools offered
  • documentation from @docs
  • previous chat messages so AI can understand what happened before
  • Any tools used (terminal commands etc) and the responses there.
    -…

The amount of files in a project can be very large so while adding all on some project may work, on most it wont likely fit into context.

Also some files have to be excluded like log files, temporary files or intermediary files (some languages/frameworks create such files between user code and when running the code locally)

I used this approach before cursor but just combining all files into one file with a script but there is a big issue with this.

Code contains so much functionality that it then confuses AI as it has to understand what it should do with all that code, and if the edit is on a single file only which is not used by all other files but in specific parts, this causes hallucinations, wrong edits etc.

Thats why codebase was replaced with code specific checks that find most matching locations. (Sure that needs to be improved but its getting there)
