Add Opus 4.6 Max (Thinking) to Cloud Agents + Long-Running Cloud Agents (Cursor Web → Agents)

Feature request for product/service

Cursor Web

Describe the request

Hi Cursor team — could you please add Opus 4.6 Max (Thinking) as a selectable model for Cloud Agents and Long-Running Cloud Agents in Cursor Web (Agents)?

Why this would help

For agentic workflows that run longer and require consistent multi-step planning, “Thinking” variants tend to be noticeably better at:

Long-horizon reasoning (keeping a plan coherent across many steps)

Complex refactors / migrations (higher success rate with fewer retries)

Debugging + triage across multiple files/logs/tools

Tool-use reliability during extended sessions (less drift / fewer loops)

Where I’d use it (examples)

Large codebase refactors spanning many files and tests

CI failures that require iterative investigation and patching

Dependency upgrades / framework migrations with many follow-up fixes

Generating and validating multi-step implementation plans before execution

Long-running agents that need to maintain context and intent over time

Opus 4.6 is already available on Cloud Agents

At least I can’t select Opus 4.6 MAX as the default template for cloud agents in the web cursor. If you could ask them to add Opus 4.6 MAX as the default mode, like the other models, I would appreciate it.

Cloud Agents already run in Max Mode by default! The “Opus 4.6” option in the Cloud Agent picker uses the full 1M context window, equivalent to Opus 4.6 Max in the desktop editor.

So your current claude-4.6-opus-high-thinking default is already giving you Opus 4.6 with both extended thinking and the full 1M Max Mode context. The picker just doesn’t explicitly label it “Max” since it’s the default behavior for all Cloud Agent models.

I am pretty sure he does not refer to max mode (context window), but to the effort level, in cloud it is only high, but in ide there is max effort variant…

Yeah Opus 4.6 Max (Effort)
