I have a question. Can an agent access directories outside its workspace?
I could swear that it was able to do it a couple of versions ago, but now, when I ask it, it can’t. It even replies that it is “sandboxed”.
Is this true? And is it possible to unlock the access somehow?

You can set settings what the Agent should be allowed to do in Chat, like here the setting to allow access to files outside of workspace. However note that with this you are at higher risk of issues should the model choose to run commands that are not safe.
Go to Settings > Chat > Auto-run section.
