this is also broken for me, turning off external file edit protection also fixed it for me but would not like to have it permanently be like that
This is a very good comment, it indeed fixed the issue
Suggestion against these bugs each and every update:
add a button to DOWNGRADE the version.
+1 please fix AND make new update changes more clear before installing - standard software practice
Are all the reports on windows/WSL?
My example is, yes.

I think the most irritating thing for me is the terminal not reporting output (RID: 1e8aaf27-b4d8-4b51-a9af-9cfe5799f577)
EDIT: It is now updating files on its own (correct behaviour) so just the terminal output issue for me.
Yes.

Yes windows. In my case I would see three simultaneous edits where the progress ring at the top left would just keep spinning. I did get an OS notification saying it was asking for permission, which kind of tipped me off something was wrong. But the accept button at the bottom right never appeared, even after 10+ minutes of inactivity.
Close cursor and reopen, now the approve button is present, but of course the chat session is dead. Try to tell the model ‘something went wrong, continue’ and it just repeats the cycle.
Thanks!
I just updated Cursor and got this problem. I am NOT using WSL, but I am using Remote SSH to a Debian VM, from a Windows machine.
broken as well for me, had to allow external files editing - feels like a very unwanted way to fix things
This works for me.
What operating system are you using?
Windows 10 Entreprise
@andrewh I know you guys all use Mac, but can you PLEASE make sure your updates are stable on Windows and Windows (remote WSL) before you roll them out?
EVERY DAY I am getting new issues, and it’s not just me:
This is seriously affecting my productivity - I am paying Cursor >$2k a month and this is the software stability you’re providing to your power users? I am seriously considering to switch to Windsurf or Antigravity. At least I do not need to spend half of my time debugging why Cursor stops working again.
Incredibly frustrating.
Also happening on MacOS (26.1). I updated this morning and now have the same issue.
- Doesn’t ask for all files.
- Turning off external file protection didn’t make a difference for me.
- I am in a workspace with multiple folders and repositories.

I meet the same question ![]()
same, every file in the code base need to be “accepted” to be edited
