Agents suddenly can't see currently open tabs

Describe the Bug

Altough the UI shows in the top of the chat message “1 tab” or “2 tabs”, or however many windows you have open, I have noticed that after the latest update, agents are utterly confused when I reference something in the open windows, and start grepping and searching for whatever I am referering to. This behaviour dissapears if I drag the file into their context, making me think that the context provided by the agent now no longer includes the currently open files.

This is quite annoying, and means I have to drag in windows everytime I want to use Cursor… This feature has made the usability a lot worse.

Steps to Reproduce

Just ask any model about something on the open tab. It will start grepping and searching for it in the codebase, apparently not sure what you are referering to.

Then compare to dragging in the file into context.

Expected Behavior

Old behaviour, where it sees currently opened files.

Operating System

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Thanks for reporting this issue.
Please update to the latest version (you’re on 1.4.3, current is 1.4.5) and check if the issue persists
You can also use the /Add Open Files to Context command in chat to explicitly include your open tabs when the agent isn’t seeing them automatically.

Please update to version 1.4.5 first and let us know if this still happens.

Yep this is infuriating. Updated cursor because you guys made it mandatory, now the most basic functionality is broken. Please fix this as soon as possible
