Agents Window is hostile UX — Classic must stay default forever

Hey, thanks for the feedback. There’s an existing thread on this, so let’s consolidate there: Cursor Always Starts in Agent Mode Instead of IDE Mode - #28 by Colin

Quickly:

  • Open Agents Window on Startup = Off doesn’t mean always IDE. It restores the last used window. If IDE was last, it will open IDE.
  • To force IDE, launch via cursor --classic or use Ctrl+Shift+N, then close the Agents window so IDE is the last used window. We’re not deprecating --classic.

We’re clarifying this setting now and will likely rename it. Please follow up in the thread above.
