AI Only Pretends to Read Files

Yes. This is my experience. It is not reading the files and then apologizes for not reading them.

Also, it is changing OpenAI models and also swapping out databases after repeatedly being instructed not to.

It has also messed up the log file entries…which it is not reading anyway.

Lines are getting too long.

Product is no longer usable.

Chat is now referencing the wrong files. It does not understand the file structure even though the file structure of the project structure has been written to a text file and fed back into Claude=3.5-sonnet.

It is taking more time to put humpty-dumpty back together again than it took Cursor to push Humpty Dumpty off the wall and break my code into 1,000 pieces.

My plan was to get my app working again before trying it with Co-Pilot.

I have worked through the weekend and through the morning to only be spun in circles by Cursor Chat.

I am pivoting to Co-Pilot with the app broken.

Will let you know if Co-Pilot can put Humpty-Dumpty back together again.

Have you tried the latest copilot updates. i think they are releasing something that works like composer. Cursor use to be awesome but the team is focused so much in releasing new features without actually tresting it properly before release. one new feature ends up bnreaking 5 pre existing features. I think they need a solid Q/A team that conducts regression analysis and tests prior to each release.

I restarted my Co-Pilot subscription feature yesterday. Co-Pilot is giving me very different advice than Cursor.

What is needed is for an AI to be able to review the entire codebase and find areas that are incongruent and then, make them congruent.

Cursor assisted me in moving files around a Django project and all of the pointers got messed up.

Cursor also helped me add files to move the solution to production, which were never correct.

Yesterday, Co-Pilot was giving me wonky advice by not being able to see the context of areas of concern - or at least, I could not figure out how to help it understand the issues generated by Cursor.

I have rolled back to a working version but am losing some functionality.

Commit early and commit often.

Wow that is interesting… What cursor version are you currently using? As for me i have stopped using composer and chat. i just use the cursor tab only as a supercharged autocomplete tool. I manually hand code everything. I don’t trust this tool to do even the most boring tasks for fear of it tntanking aking my project by deleting important files.
