Hello,
I have configured my Rules and Commands in Cursor. However, I’ve noticed that they are often ignored or only partially followed unless I explicitly restate them in the chat.
I would like to request a feature that allows user-defined rules (e.g., from .cursor/rules) to be automatically injected into every new chat message context, without requiring me to manually retype them each time.
Use Case
For example, I frequently work in ASK mode and I always want:
“No code in chat.”
If I need code, I switch to Agent mode.
Although this rule exists in my user rules file, it is not consistently enforced unless I explicitly include it in the message. This defeats the purpose of having persistent rules.
Proposed Feature
An option to automatically prepend or inject user rules into every chat interaction.
Ensures rules are always part of the model’s effective context.
This would:
Improve consistency
Reduce repetition
Strengthen rule adherence
Make workflows more predictable
