Best case of MCP usage

Hey,

I know what MCP is in theory, but I’m wondering if someone has had a great time using it? I.e. some scenario where the usage of MCP increased your effectiveness significantly or something like that.
I’m wondering if it’s possible for large-case scenarios or if it’s some niche thing. Also, it’s interesting how reliably it works, etc.

Thanks in advance for sharing!

So many different MCPs to use.. and different needs by person.

Are you a dev? or in another role? Not all Cursor and MCP users are devs.

What tools do you use (dbs? etc…).

In some cases it helps to use MCP (e.g. if you need access to certain features that are not built into the editor). In others its not neccesary.

0_o didn’t expect that

Yeah I’m dev, full stack (front, backend, devops, docker, scripts etc)

Tools I use mostly command line and currently agent uses them successfully, the only thing it cannot open browser but wondering how effective it’ll be with MCP (i.e. it’ll require authorization, navigating, opening menus etc.)

There are several DB mcp’s like postgres, mysql,. …

Also browser tools are common MCP (debugging etc. basically dev tools but connected as MCP).

No you dont need menus etc.

How to use MCP

  • Install any MCP on your device or use a 3rd party integration with their api key.
  • Configure it in your Cursor project or global.
  • Refresh it or restart Cursor.
  • Then just call it by name or approximately in the Agent.
