Despite having had the benefit of being educated about subagent control via Task() in a recent thread, I managed to accidentally spawn 55 Opus 4.5 subagents in parallel early today, and chewed through a substantial portion of my subscription for the month.
Through lack of coffee or poor reading comprehension, I’d assumed that this setting was global to all subagent tasks, not just initial exploration:
As mentioned, I know that I can fiddle around in config files and define custom subagents, but I’d like an ‘easy button’ in the IDE settings to either provide a global setting for model utilization for all subagents, or be able to set preferred subagent models based on tasks, like an extension of the Explore Subagent Model shown above.
If I’ve missed an obvious setting in the IDE, I’m happy to be educated. Meanwhile, I shall consider how to use the remaining 25% of my Ultra subscription this month more wisely!
