Bugbot incongruity on free accounts

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

BugBot

Describe the Bug

Hi Cursor Support,
I’m seeing inconsistent Bugbot messaging in Cursor:

Screen 1 shows a promotional CTA: “Try Bugbot for free.”
Screen 2 (Bugbot page) says: “Upgrade to unlock Bugbot” with “Upgrade to Pro.”
This is confusing because one screen implies free access while another indicates a paid entitlement is required.

Steps to Reproduce

https://cursor.com/dashboard/bugbot shows “Upgrade to unlock Bugbot”

Expected Behavior

Try bugbot for free

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. This is working as designed, but the copy is genuinely confusing. I’ll explain how it works:

  • Try Bugbot for free is a CTA for Pro and Team users. A Pro account includes a free tier inside BugBot a few PR reviews per month for free, and this banner is promoting that.
  • Upgrade to unlock Bugbot on cursor.com/dashboard/bugbot is correct behavior for the free Cursor plan. To access BugBot including its free tier, you need Pro.

So the free in the first message refers to the free tier of the feature inside the Pro subscription, not the Cursor Free plan. I get that without context it reads like a contradiction.

I’ll log this as feedback about the UX inconsistency. That’s a valid point, and the CTA should clearly mention the prerequisite. If you see the Try Bugbot for free screen again, please share where exactly you’re seeing it URL or section so the team can fix the copy more directly.
