In case it’s worth sharing — Bugbot token pricing has (silently) shot up.
I’ve pulled full usage stats from my accounts (Ultra plan + $250 monhtly on-demand).
Week of 22 June 2026: $0.73 / M token
Week of 24 August: $1.40 /M token
Week of 5 October: $1.72 / M token
This month it’s caused me to burn through my plan ridiculously fast.
I looked at your Bugbot usage, and the cost per review has stayed in roughly the same range since June. The per-token rate moved because the models Bugbot uses at the Default effort level changed over the summer, so the blended rate per million tokens isn’t a great gauge on its own. What changed this month is volume: this week Bugbot had already run about twice as many reviews by Thursday as in a typical full week, mostly re-reviews of PRs after new pushes.
Two settings make the biggest difference to cost. Both are under Bugbot in your dashboard (cursor.com/dashboard/bugbot):
Bugbot Effort Levels. Low is tuned for cost, with quality close to Default, and it’s noticeably cheaper per review. It looks like you switched to Low this morning, so reviews from today onward should already reflect that. High costs the most, and Smart lets you write rules so only riskier PRs get High effort.
Incremental Review. With this on, a re-review after a new push only looks at what changed since Bugbot’s last review instead of the whole PR. It’s already on for your account. One thing limits it: if the PR’s base changes between pushes (for example rebasing onto main, or merging main into the branch), Bugbot falls back to a full review. Batching pushes, and holding off on rebasing until you’re ready for a final pass, keeps more re-reviews incremental.
You’ve also set the trigger to “Once Per PR”, which skips reviews on later pushes entirely. If you’d rather keep a review on each push, “Every Push” with Low effort and Incremental Review on is a good middle ground. You can also comment “bugbot run” on a PR any time to get a fresh review on demand.
Let me know how your usage looks over the next few days!
Hi Colin,
My Bugbot effort level was unchanged from “balanced”, and incremental reviews have always been on for me.
I’ve done the analysis: I don’t particularly do a little more PR reviews… and I use fewer tokens for review than in june-july… but the price per token has demonstrably shot up.
This is making Bugbot unaffordable for me, sadly, even on the Ultra plan.
To be fair, Copilot review cost has also shot up through the roof. I’m switching to homebrew review skills that use my allowance to do PR reviews, but it’s a lot less convenient.
