"Building..." plan, but agent conversation doesn't reflect that

Well, just wasted another $10 in six minutes because Cursor is broken, yet again.

Built a very large plan with Fable, finally was ready and hit the yellow “Build” button in the IDE. The button changed state to “Building”, and my usage tab started showing requests and the filesystem started showing changes, but the agent conversation stayed in plan mode, with no updates. Tried restarting Cursor and trying again, same result. Asked agent if it was working, and it said it was just waiting for me to approve the plan so it would execute.

So apparently there’s some invisible background agent that got kicked off when I clicked on “Build”, and the connection between my planning agent and the plan was severed.

Steps to Reproduce

No idea, I use planning mode all the time.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

I think I figured it out. At some point I forked this chat, and I ultimately archived the old chat (before I hit “Build”). But I think the plan was still linked to the old chat (although the new forked chat was also updating the plan file just fine), and if I go back into my archived chats, I see there that the old agent chat was where the work was being done.

So it seems like forking a chat that has a plan attached has some issues.

Hi Ryan I’m sorry for the disappointing experience here. I appreciate you circling back and letting us know the source of the issue. I’ve linked this to a bug report we have that is open that addresses this kind of behavior. We’ll keep you updated on the status of it.
