Can not use gemini-exp-1206

Describe the Bug

I can’t use the gemini-exp-1206. When I would like to invoke the model, it returns “We’re having trouble connecting to Google. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.” And I am Cursor Pro user.

I’ve been having the same issue for the past few days. It works if I use my own API key, but that’s not ideal.

Yes, it also works for me if using my own API key.

Hey, this was a temporary issue with Gemini which we have now resolved.

Being our newest model in Cursor, it’s still somewhat experimental and we are still improving it’s support and stability in the editor.
If it’s giving your issues, I’d recommend swapping to a different model, like GPT-4o-mini, which will be more reliable in the short term.

Unfortunately, I still seem to get the same issue. It works with my own API key, but gives “We’re having trouble connecting to Google. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.” if I don’t use my own API key.
