Thanks for clarifying.
I need to correct point 1. The Windows bug I mentioned in my last reply is specific to UNC paths like \\server\share\..., and it’s already fixed. Since you’re using a normal local path, this is a different case. There isn’t a separate tracker entry for it yet, so we need to report it.
So I can file it as a new issue, please send:
- The Request ID from one of the chats where the
**/*.csrule shows up in the active rules even though you don’t have any.csfile open. To get it: chat context icon in the top right > Copy Request ID. If Privacy Mode is on, please turn it off temporarily in Cursor Settings > General, otherwise the ID doesn’t show much. - A screenshot of the same chat with the active rules list expanded in the tooltip, so the mismatch is visible.
About introspection, yeah, that pain is familiar and I’ve heard it before. There are open feature requests. Please upvote or comment to add weight:
- Show which rules are injected into prompts
- Glob-scoped rules should trigger on AI file access, not just editor tabs — plus MCP/CLI tool triggers
Once you send the Request ID and the screenshot, I’ll file a ticket and reply here.
