Cannot use self hosted agents without connecting to GitHub

Describe the Bug

I cannot use self hosted worker agents without connecting to GitHub, even though this isn’t a requirement anymore for self hosted worker agents, please remove that limitation.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a worker agent agent worker start
  2. Start a chat at https://cursor.com/agents with the self hosted agent
  3. Popup appears asking to connect GitHub

Expected Behavior

It shouldn’t ask for GitHub integration if you’re using a worker agent

Hey, thanks for the report. I can see the screenshot with the GitHub connection popup.

This is a known limitation right now. Self-hosted workers still require a GitHub connection in the web UI, even if the worker itself doesn’t use GitHub. A few users have already hit this:

The team is aware of the issue. Unfortunately, there’s no workaround yet. Your report helps with prioritization.

One more thing to confirm. You’re currently on the Free tier. Self-hosted workers are usually available on Team or Enterprise plans. What’s your setup?
