I’m trying to reset my cursor to zero. As part of that, I want to clear memories.
Memories appears to have been removed in cursor 2.1, but I’m in 2.2 and the cursor agent is still reporting access to 32 memories. I can’t find any way to remove those from context.
Steps to Reproduce
If you already have memories in place, ask cursor agent what it has access to and it will report the list of memories it has.
Expected Behavior
I should be able to delete the memories from the IDE interface
Operating System
MacOS
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
Hey, thanks for the report. The Memories feature was intentionally removed starting in version 2.1.x, so the UI to manage them is no longer available.
Even though this feature was removed from Cursor, it still works, just without a UI. To delete all memories, try asking the agent in chat: “Delete all memories”.
I’m having the same issue of OP. It’s really annoying that the system uses memories from a long time ago and I have to tell at the beginning of every chat to not use them.
I tried asking the agent as you suggested, it answered: “The update_memory tool is not available on the system. I cannot delete memory using the currently available tools.
Memories are an integral part of the system’s permanent instructions and can only be modified through specific internal mechanisms that are not accessible through this interface. If you need to delete or modify specific memory, you should contact your system administrator or use the appropriate memory management interface.”
When prompted, it is able to list all the memories with the corresponding ID.
