Changing project root path causes all previous AI chat history to disappear in Cursor

Describe the Bug

When I change the root path of my project folder in Cursor, all previous AI chat history related to that project disappears. It seems that Cursor maps chat history to the absolute project path, so after the path changes, the old chats are no longer accessible.

Steps to Reproduce

1.	Create a project in Cursor and have some AI chat history associated with it.
2.	Close Cursor.
3.	Move or rename the root folder of the project.
4.	Reopen the project in Cursor from the new path.
5.	Observe that the previous AI chat history is missing.

Expected Behavior

Chat history should remain accessible after moving or renaming the project root folder, or there should be a way to remap the new path to the old chat history.

Additional Information

It would be helpful if Cursor stored project chat history in a path-independent way, or allowed manual remapping so that history is not lost when project paths change. This is especially important for developers who frequently move or rename projects.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, thanks for the report, but this isn’t a bug, each chat history is strictly tied to the name/location of your projects.

Yes, this is indeed not a mistake, but I hope there is a way to solve this problem caused by the user’s inaction. I hope you can give me an answer.Yes, this is indeed not a mistake, but I hope there is a way to solve this problem caused by the user’s inaction. I hope you can give me an answer.
