Chat always scrolls to top when switching between multiple chats

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

Hi Team,

I noticed an issue in the Cursor AI desktop app when working with multiple chats.

When I switch between different chat threads, the app always loads the chat history from the top instead of keeping the scroll position at the latest message. This forces me to manually scroll down every time just to see the most recent responses.

This becomes really inconvenient, especially while working with multiple chat windows in parallel. It breaks the workflow and wastes time since I constantly need to scroll to the bottom.

Suggestion:
It would be very helpful if the app could remember the last scroll position in each chat, so that when switching back, it directly shows the most recent part of the conversation.

Yeah, It is a pain to scroll all of that again especially in long chat..

Im happy to have a G502 Hero mouse with a mouse wheel and can move btween standard wheel control and unlocked where it spins almost forever, but yeah i feel your pain, even sscroll to first message option is ignored….

hi everyone, could you please share your Cursor version as this may be an regression issue.

I second this, also going on for numerous versions though

I am using the Cursor IDE version 1.6.42

same here. When i close and open the chat, it moves to top instead of latest conversation. It was working fine before.

same complaint. you guys need to fix this

In which version exactly is this going to be finished? Not in 1.6.45…

Thanks

Jan

The issue persists. It may have always existed, but it became more noticeable after the implementation of the /Summarize feature.

Same issue here. It’s brutal. several chats at the same time to have agents parallelize tasks (without bg agent) means long scrolling on every tab switch.

I’m on MacOS/latest Cursor:

also, Home/End doesn’t work for me. Fixing that would decrease issue severity in the meantime

Same issue for me too.

Hey! We fixed this on 1.7+ which is rolled out to early access now and will be fully available soon

it’s better (sometimes goes to the bottom, versus never going to the bottom) but still not reliably working for me on 1.7.46

Hi @deanrie, it would be really appreciate, it is making us slow every tab switch

ist still happening, really bad for trying to work on multiple tasks at the same time. Strange that this has not been fixed

I downloaded 2.0.69 (Universal) and this is happening again. Regression?
Really painful and annoying.
