Cursor chat cannot apply changes to markdown, or anything that includes ``` delimited sections. While it can generate suggestions, the delimited bits break the answer in the chat window, and make the whole thing impossible to select for copy/paste.
It would be great if it was able to handle files that contained delimiters or markdown, or at least display the answers without rendering them in the chat window for manual copying.
Although Cursor can’t seem to apply any changes it suggests for my markdown code, I have found how to copy it out of the message manually. Just use the ‘Copy message’ button at the bottom of the response (not any of the inline ones, they will only copy that segment). This copies the raw markdown and can be pasted into the code. You’ll need to delete the AI ‘fluff’ at the beginning and end, but I’ve found this to be the easiest way for now. I don’t want to add custom prompts for this because I do it rarely, and too many prompts may reduce the quality of my responses globally.
