When o3-mini decides to work it’s actually really great for a lot of things. I especially love having 03 run the fist round of code ideation because it’s really well organized and then having Claude flesh it out… but I can spend a whole lot of premium credits just trying to get 03 to DO anything. This has been an issue on other OpenAI models in Cursor.

Normally “proceed” is the fastest way to get OpenAI to go “oh you want me to code now” but, man, some mornings.

Yeah getting o3-mini to take action can definitely be hit or miss. Setting explicit rules in your prompts like “Generate code now:” or “Write a function that:” can help nudge it into action mode.

You could also try adding some explicit AI rules telling it to be more proactive in making changes.
