Choosing agent or editor view applies to all cursor open windows

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I believe this is a bug. If you have multiple Cursor windows open, for example you are working on multiple projects: selecting the editor view in one automatically selects the editor view in all open cursor windows.

Conversely, selecting the agent view, makes all the windows switch to the agent view.

Steps to Reproduce

Open multiple cursor windows, ideally different projects. Two are enough.
Then try to have the agent view on one, and the editor view on the other - it will not be possible. Changing the view mode in one window applies to all

Expected Behavior

I would expect to be able to select the view style i want/need per project or cursor window: e.g. have one project in editor mode, and another in agent mode.

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known issue. Right now, layout mode agent or editor is intentionally synced globally across all windows. A few users have already reported this:

The team is aware and is tracking requests for per-window layout settings. No timeline yet, but your report helps with prioritization.

I’m closing this as a duplicate. We’ll update the existing threads if there’s news.
