Firing off cloud agents using API key not working for my account.

Hey @AndrewC,

This is a known issue on our side, and nothing is wrong with your API key or your plan. On the X Subscription plans, Cloud Agents started through the API with an API key are currently checked against your credit balance instead of your weekly included usage, so new launches get that “prepaid balance” refusal. The team is aware of it, and I’ve added your report.

In the meantime, two options:

  1. Start the agents from cursor.com/agents or the Cursor app. Those draw from your weekly included usage as expected.
  2. Keep a small credit balance on the account. That gets API launches past the check, and Composer or Grok runs should still count against your weekly usage rather than the credits, though it’s worth keeping an eye on the balance at first.
