Earlier Cmd K would bring up a generation window and be able to make changes in all of my files. Now it seems to be asking me to select some code in the current file and is able to make changes only to that file. What am I missing or doing wrong?
Today I ran into the same problem. Cmd K is working but in specifics sectors of the code or cmd L but it is not equally efficient, I will be attentive at the solution and write if it is solved. Today I had an update but that problem has not changed
Right now, it is completely breaking the IDE for me.
I can use it without any issues at all, but as soon as I try to use Ctrl + K or Ctrl+L it goes into “thinking” mode and it doesn’t get unstuck, then all the extensions and everything else stop working. Cannot find any of the output options to give me a consise error to see whats going on.
Same here. Cmd K generation window is not working anymore.
A couple of days ago it looks like an update disabled that function.
For me it’s a deal breaker, as I was a heavy user of this feature (IMHO one of the best features in Cursor). Now it takes me much (MUCH) more time to do with Cmd L the same things I did with Cmd K.
If this is not fixed, I don’t think I will renew next month.
Same here! I keep pressing Cmd +K on a file and nothing happens. Before it would bring up a chat that would automatically apply the changes everywhere in the file. Now it takes a lot of time and complexity to determine exactly were should I fit the suggested code into the existing code. Its basically going to chatgpt and copy pasting rather than having cursor automatically apply the changes. This is a deal breaker for me also!
I found what works! Cmd K just does the inline edit for the code selection. But Shift+Cmd+K does what Cmd+K used to do. I hope this works for the rest of you as well.
It’s good that you had a solution. Here I continue with the same
problem, I have created a new folder and an index.html to test if
It works in another project, with shift+cmd+k the window appeared
chat but only once and then it didn’t appear again. I reinstalled the
program, I cleaned the logs but still no solution. have you done something
more or just what you mentioned?
I didn’t reinstall the program but I did try to quit the program and even restarted my computer but that didn’t help.
Try to create a new folder with nothing in and then open that folder and do Shift+Cmd+K and see if that helps?
Sorry that you’re still having this issue - it is frustrating!
I open it with CMD+Shift+K but it doesn’t work in the old experience. It used to write automatic code very well. Now it is very bad
I have seen that another user was able to run it using shift+cmd+i. It has worked for me. The window is called “composer”. When you open it the difference is that a large window opens. To see how it was executed before, you must go to: Open docked composer → Open composer as bar
