Composer 2 - "Thought Briefly", then just stops

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I send a request via the chat UI. It works, works, works, then at some point it just says “Thought briefly” and it stops. It doesn’t shown any errors, the UI doesn’t indicate it is still working or has completed it’s work.

Steps to Reproduce

Honestly, not sure. It seems to happen often. I never had this happen when using GPT-5.4 or Opus-4.6

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, thanks for the report and for the Request ID.

I can see the screenshot with “Thought briefly”. This is a known UI bug. While the model is still actively thinking, the UI sometimes shows “Thought briefly” as if it finished, instead of “Thinking…” with the animation. Because of that, it can look like the model stopped, but it’s actually still processing.

The backend is working fine though. From your Request ID, I can see the request completed successfully.

As a workaround, if you see “Thought briefly” and it looks stuck, just wait a bit. The model is probably still working and will return a result after some time.

The team is aware of this bug. There’s no specific ETA for a fix yet, but your report helps us prioritize it.
