Connection errors with wsl2

Hi community. I am going crazy. I can’t fix it so far. Whatever I try, I still have the following message in the wsl terminal window:

[2025-02-13 18:04:44.578] Extension version: 0.88.5
[2025-02-13 18:04:44.579] L10N bundle: none
[2025-02-13 18:04:44.580] WSL extension is supported only in Microsoft versions of VS Code

When running cursor . in a folder on Ubuntu22.04 WSL2 instance for the first time (or after having deleted the .cursor-server folder) I receive the following message about using a legacy server:

Not sure if this is part of the problem, but I am trying to find a newer version of the cursor-server for Linux, but was not able to find one yet.

Can someone please help me, because not being able to use Cursor on WSL2 makes it pretty useless for me. Many thanks in advance.

Could find a solution under the following link.

User tuzun89 has a link to WSL Extension Version 0.883 that is working with Cursor 0.45.11. If you encounter the problem I mentioned above, visit the link and download the VSIX file. Hit CTRL-SHIFT-P and enter Extensions: Install from VSIX then select the downloaded VSIX file. After restarting the extension, it works like a charm. We probably need to get ready for more of such bs, because Microsoft has the right and the will to make the life of non Microsoft clones harder to use Marketplace extensions.
