In previous version (I have just installed the latest update, haven’t tested yet) of Cursor I frequently faced issue with running out of chat context. Long chats end up with “Connection error”.
It has nothing to do with connection:
- in such chat sending a new message ends up saying “connection error”
- start a new chat and it works well again
Real issue seems to be running out of input context window. I usually use Claude Sonnet 3.7 (200k tokens input context window).
I wonder how come this isn’t already resolved. I get that there are multiple ways how to deal with long context including /compact in Claude Code, or some kind of running window (send last n messages from chat content). So it surprises me when I run into “connection error” message that seems to be incorrectly handled error state.
What is your take on this?
Seems to be reported long time ago and long time no change: Long context chat not working
