Cursor 3 remarkably slow and glitchy

I do not have a particular bug I wish to troubleshoot by sending detailed context message. What I want to signal-boost the perception that Cursor 3 introduced significant glitches and slowdowns.

As of the past few weeks:

  1. Cursor often crashes with code ‘5’ or due to ‘oom’.
  2. Models often get stuck on “Taking longer than expected”.
  3. When we reject a deletion diff, the deleted section is re-added but the deletion diff continues.
  4. The interface for code diffs does not display the diff navbar until you click on the changed files (I am referring to the top bar that shows changes “1 of N” and “1 of K files”).
  5. The button “Add File to Cursor chat” often simply does not work.
  6. When models attempt to run CLI commands which have not been pre-approved, the “Allow” button is often invisible (but still clickable). Furthermore, the middle button which permits adding the CLI command into the allowlist (e.g. ‘cd’ or ‘ps’ or ‘grep’) is often entirely missing.

These problems occur irrespective of whether my computer is Windows or Linux, fast or slow, on a new or an old project, on a new or an old chat, locally or on an SSH remote connection, etc.

Cursor glitches have become the single biggest bottleneck to my workflow. I wish it was just my dumb old brain, but I’ve been having to fight the IDE!

Feedback: Upgraded to Cursor 3.1 and it seems much quicker.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feedback. We’re aware of all the issues you listed:

  1. OOM or crash code 5: the team knows and is actively improving memory management. If crashes continue after 3.1, let me know.

  2. Taking longer than expected: we sometimes see server slowdowns, especially with Composer 2 or Auto mode. It’s usually temporary.

  3. Rejected deletion diff still shows up: known bug, the team is aware.

  4. Diff navbar doesn’t show until you click: also logged.

  5. Add File to Cursor chat doesn’t work: could you confirm how you’re doing it, via the Explorer context menu or another way?

  6. Invisible Allow button: known styling issue. Workaround: switch your color theme to Default Dark Modern and the button should become visible. It’s still clickable even when the text isn’t visible.

Glad 3.1 is already better. If anything from the list is still happening after the update, message me and we’ll dig in.
