CURSOR AGENT ERROR ON UBUNTU (Agent execution timeout)

I’m having a problem with Cursor I recently switched operating systems from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu). I just downloaded the latest version of Cursor to continue working on my projects, but every time I send a message to the agent, I don’t receive a response, only a popup with an error message and a button asking me to refresh the page, which obviously doesn’t help.

Do you have any ideas or solutions to suggest? I look forward to your feedback.

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known issue on Linux, and there are a few possible causes.

Most likely on a fresh Ubuntu install: Cursor is trying to use zsh, but it’s not installed. Try this:

1. Install zsh:

   sudo apt install zsh
   

   Restart Cursor and check again.

2. Or enable Legacy Terminal: Settings > Cursor Settings > Agents > Legacy Terminal > restart Cursor

If that didn’t help:

4. What Cursor version are you on? (Menu > About Cursor > Copy). If it’s 2.4.12 to 2.4.14, roll back to 2.3.37: Download · Cursor (scroll to Previous versions at the bottom)

5. Try launching without extensions: cursor --disable-extensions

HI! having same issue, but nothing helps. Rolled back and used curl to check every domain, but when running network diagnostics I get problems with EverythingProvider and DNS SSL dont work either
