Cursor Agent Lies

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

It ha been 4 times now that Cursor AI agent in IDE completely ignores what it was told, including Save. I have been using AI to build programs for about 2 years now so I have learned to be very precise and reiterative, from the beginning I provide clear goal, clear method, clear restrictions, and clearly state what to avoid. I have also learned to get the agent to verify to make sure that they didnt skim through what I said, “I would like you to go through the entire workflow once so you can know how the program works and then go back and go through it again but this time keeping an eye on X, Y, Z. Do not make any changes just yet, instead just restate what the task was and bring the issues you found to the table so we can figure from there.”
For almost a week we worked on a fully functioning program and I thought we were doing a good job until I go to verify the work with another AI (i usually use Claude or Gemini) and they mention that the script is filled with mock data (which is even prohibited in the rules and I reiterate all the time) although Cursor swore up and down that there was none but most worrisome, all the work we had been doing was not there. All the back-of-the-house work was either garbage or not there.
I dont think that Cursor AI had ill intentions and boldfaced lied when it was saying that it was modifying the script so I’m assuming that Save was not working, for 4 days. Needless to say, I restarted the computer and now I’m back at where I was before all of this, what feels like a, mirage happened.
What gives?

Steps to Reproduce

I guess by treating the AI agent like a child.
